Standing up above the rest, this white flower caught my eye in the garden of a courtyard building in our neighborhood. The background is a sidewalk, which sits on a small rise above the bed of zinneas in hues of orange, pink and yellow.

The morning was very still and calm, with quiet light, so that’s the word that came to mind as a title for this image.

I’m thrilled to write that I’ll be assisting Marti Jeffers next spring during her workshop in Callaway Gardens and Warm Springs, Georgia, and hope to have the pleasure of meeting more of you in person there!

photographed “in the field” in one of the neighborhood courtyard gardens I regularly prowl. The background is a sidewalk, which sits on a small rise above a bed of zinneas. One flower in particular caught my eye…

  1. Definitely a very nice portrait. I find myself looking at the flower for a long time.

But what thrills me most, is to read you team up with Marti! How very good news is this! I would love to attend your course! Maybe I can one day convince Greg, Marti and you to held a couple workshops here in Switzerland… 🙂

    cheers

  2. April, this is a beautiful portrait of a flower that goes beyond the mere recording of which species this is. This is a timeless flower-for-all ages! And like I said over at TME, this would be a great inspiration for someone who crafts metal bowls.

April, like Roland, I also am thrilled that Marti has asked you to assist her in Callaway Gardens next spring. I hope this will be the start of a long association for both of you.

    Hugs,
    Flo

  3. Thank you both for your feedback on this image, and especially for your well-wishes on this new adventure with Marti!

    Switzerland…here we come. 🙂

  4. I already know I can tease Marti with chocolate. Now I only need to know how to tease you and Craig. But I’m working on it.

    🙂

    cheers

  5. Very glad for you. It is very exciting and stimulating for both of you, I am sure.

My feeling about this image: opened serenity.

    • Ah, “serene” or “serenity” is perhaps a better title for this image. That does capture my feeling about its own state in this particular morning.
